5 Creative Ways to Promote Your Business With Facebook Messenger

Many of us use Facebook Messenger to chat with friends, but did you know that it can also be used for marketing? On social media, I’ve found it to be an effective tool for connecting with existing clients and potential clients.

Facebook Messenger offers some useful options that you can use to improve your customer service, promote your products, and more.

Still not convinced? You might find these numbers helpful.

  • Messenger marketing has 70% higher open rates than email marketing.
  • Facebook has more than 300 million active bots.
  • In the United States, Facebook Messenger is downloaded over 2 million times per month.
  • Every month, Facebook users exchange more than 20 billion messages with businesses.

It’s staggering numbers by any measure. Okay, now that I’ve gotten your attention – you are convinced, right?

Here are five easy and creative ways to market with Facebook Messenger

#1: Remind Customers Of Their Appointments

When your clients book appointments with you on Facebook using the “Book Now” button, you should remind them about their appointments using Facebook Messenger.

You can turn on the button by clicking the blue call to action button on your business page. Choose “Book with You” and fill out your appointment preferences. If you’re finished, click the Automated Responses menu in your Inbox.

To enable Appointment Reminders, scroll down to the Follow-Up options, then click on that option. 24 hours before the scheduled appointment, Messenger will send an automated reminder.

#2: Start a Conversation

Would you like to promote a killer piece of content? If you do, then the next time you post to Facebook, use the “Get Messages” feature.

You’ll see a list of options below the message area when you create a post on Facebook. There is one called “Get Messages,” which enables those who see your post to send you a message.

This feature is most useful for promoting a lead magnet or special offer. If someone is interested in the content you’re promoting, they can request it by clicking the Send Message button. Once you have their contact information, you can send them a pdf of the content or redirect them to your download page.

You can still use this feature if you don’t have content to promote. That way, people can contact you for more information. I think it’s an excellent way to begin a conversation. Don’t forget that Facebook has rules about how often businesses may send messages to people. Be sure to follow their guidelines.

#3: Answer Frequently Asked Questions

You can provide answers in Messenger to your followers just as you do on your website by posting Frequently Asked Questions.

If you want to create a FAQ on Facebook, go to your inbox and click on Automated Responses. After that, enable the option for Frequently Asked Questions.

You’ll see a screen where you can add questions by tapping the plus sign. It’s a little different from a standard FAQ. Someone messaging your business page will be shown a list of FAQs and can tap the one they need to be answered. Your response will be displayed when they do.

Follow these best practices to make the most of FAQs on Facebook Messenger:

  • Answers should be short and to the point.
  • Check that the provided information corresponds to your website.
  • Clearly state that the response is automated.
  • To ensure that all links are working, double-check them.

It’s a good idea to have an automated FAQ set up so questions are answered quickly and accurately. Using this feature will also enable the badge that indicates your prompt response to messages.

#4: Message People Who RSVP to Your Event

When you set up events on Facebook and invite people to them, you can set up Facebook Messenger so that attendees can message you and begin a conversation.

The option to allow guests to message [your page] about reservations appears when you set up an event. As soon as someone reserves your event, you will receive an automated message. You can then respond to the attendee, potentially leading to another conversation that would lead to a new paying customer.

The same option works in reverse as well. Those attending the event can message you directly with any questions they have.

#5: Create Ads Targeted to People Who Have Messaged Your Page

Even though all of the methods for using Facebook Messenger can be effective, I saved the best for last. With Facebook’s Custom Audience feature, you can create ads that target people who have messaged your business page in the past.

You can select any timeframe you like. Now just click the “Add People to Your Audience” option. Then select “People who sent a message to your page” option. Now you can fill in your preferred time frame next to it. Unless the situation calls for you to choose a shorter timeframe, I recommend at least one year.

If you wish, you can get even more detailed. For example, if you’ve ever conducted a Facebook Messenger survey, you can create ads based on specific responses. If you gave your respondents four choices, you could create ads that corresponded to each response.

This tool has the advantage of being very affordable and flexible enough to allow you to engage in targeted marketing. If you take into account the high open rate of Facebook Messenger, your ads are likely to reach your target audience. You won’t get that with traditional Facebook ads.

There is more to Facebook Messenger than just connecting with friends. It can be a powerful marketing tool that will allow you to connect with your customers on a personal level, increase your conversions, and increase your profits to grow your business.
